The End

Sadly I have to say that this is by last blog and school is coming to an end.  This year has not been a particularly hard year for me and I have enjoyed it very much. The year started off just as everyone told me it would, hard.  As the days progressed I began to adapt to the work load of high-school and managing  my time. There are many things I will miss and many fun times I had this years so to sum them up I made a list of my favorites.

1) Mr, Neil sneaking up and Caroline, Amelia, Prem, and I to find out we were playing games and not doing our homework.  I still never know how we never saw him coming even when were facing the door.

2) Our Geometry class debates or arguments with Mr. Cecere.  For example Mr. Cecere gave us an example that "all cats have four legs"(to confusing to tell you how we got to that) with Christopher and Gantt talking about all the 3 or 2 legged cats they had seen.

3) Mr. Millers comebacks.  I will always miss Cantey thinking he has out smarted Mr. Miller only to get put in his place.

4) Mr. Walker chugging Pepsi upside down in class.

5)  Mrs. Kirk always saying how we are the "fast class".  When we had a sub one day we had finished early and the sub was confused on how we went through the material so fast, she then went and said, "Oh wait yall are that weird class."

6) Mr. Vitali arguing politics with our entire class.

To conclude, I will miss all of my teachers this year and am excited to the new teachers and memories will be made next year.

The Avengers Experience

This past weekend Mac, Christopher, Ray, Thomas, Gantt, TJ, and me when to go see The Avengers.  I was very excited about going to the movie because I had only heard good things about it.  Me and Thomas went ahead of everyone else to see if there were tickets left for the 7:00 showing, sadly they were all sold out.  We all then decided we would just go to the 9:00 showing even though it was in 3D.  Me and Matthew were a little mad about this because the last time we went to go see a movie in 3D we had headaches for a week.  To pass the time till 9 me and Thomas went back to his house and watched TV and played xbox.  One it was about 9 Thomas and I headed to the movies.  When we got there we had to almost twice the price just for some plastic 3D glasses.  Once inside we had to meet up with everyone.  After about 10 minutes going through the massive line we finally found them and went into the movie.  Once the movie started we all put on our 3D and glasses and ready to see if this movie actually lived up to the hype.  Like I feared watching in 3D caused almost all of us to occasional have to take of our glasses because the glasses would hurt your eyes.  Besides the whole 3D part I actually enjoyed this movie very much.  The movie was a bit slow in the beginning but things really picked up in the end.  Overall I would say go and see The Avengers, just not in 3D.

Minecraft for Xbox

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine, and this Wednesday it came out for xbox.  Matthew, Thomas and I had played his game for about a year or two on PC.  We were so we very excited that we no longer had to lean over the keyboard and play, but instead just lay on the couch and build.  Cody, Matthew, Thomas, and I all bought the game the first day it came out and started a world together.  Since Matthew, Thomas and I were, well “veterans” we had to show Cody the ropes.  To start off in minecraft you have to start gathering resources (wood, stone, dirt, iron, coal, and over 300 more things). The reason minecraft is my favorite game is there is no objective, you get to build what ever you want.  I also love the sense of accomplishment you get form seeing an idea in you head to seeing it progress right in front of you eyes.

At first when you here that the game is only blocks you think what you could build would be very limited.  This however is not the case at all.  People have build giant cities, scale model of the death star, Rome, and the list goes on.  I will post below some of the greatest creations on this game and challenge you to open your mind and not to think of the limitations but possibilities.

Man on a Ledge Review

Over this past weekend I went to go see Man on a Ledge with my dad.  Going in to the movie I knew nothing about it, except well there is a man and he is apparently on a ledge.  The movie instantly started off with action and an intense car chase, I knew this would be a good movie.  The movie never lost its fast pace and had you questioning what the man on the ledge was actually doing.  As the movie progressed the plot starts to unveil its self and you start to see what the man is actually doing up the ledge. Overall I would say defiantly go see this movie and it is much more in depth than what you think it would be just form the title.

My thoughts on Hammond getting iPads

It has been about 3 weeks since I have had my iPad. The iPad has been very beneficial educationally  The majority of the time I spend at school on my iPad is taking notes. In biology I can open Mr. Walker's notes from moodle and write my own personal notes as he continues to lecture.  In Spanish class I have a whole folder for all of my Spanish notes.  I can have all the types of conjugations, vocab, and other notes all on my iPad. I do not get to use my iPad doe Mr. Miller's class because he lectures to fast and I am not that fast as a typist. In English class I can take notes from our lecture and look up the defections of words to help me to understand what we are reading.

Another big part of my iPad usage goes to entertainment. This includes games and things like Facebook, twitter, YouTube, and Netflix.  I love when I am bored at home to be ale to pull out my iPads and just lay down and watch a movie or tv show from Netflix.  I also like being able to go on YouTube and look up videos. I also like the games that are available for the iPads.  Among these may are also helpful for some of my classes.  For example I have an iPad that is a game about the different parts of the brain that helped me for biology.

One of my favorite apps is Pages.  Pages has been one of the most helpful apps I have.  I can type a paper at home on word and  the email it to my self and open it pages.  This allows me to work on papers in the car or at lunch etc.  It is also very easy to take notes on and add images for notes or study guides. I will miss my iPad over the summer and look forward to how the iPads will be integrated into the curriculum.

Saw I Review

This weekend my dad, sister and I decided to watch Saw I. I had never seen a Saw movie so I was skeptical going into it. At the end of the movie I loved the plot and how everything fits together at the end. It also keep you second guessing yourself to the last second. I like how in the Saw movies the violence always has meaning behind it there is always a lesson to why they are being tortured. I also like how to man behind killings elaborately plans everything and seems to unable to be caught. I recommend this movie very much, but if you do not like gore you can still enjoy the plot
