Christmas at The Burnsides

Christmas at my house is a very busy day.  It starts off with me and my sister waking up around 6 in thee morning and running to each others rooms.  We then decide to wake are parents up.  My dad is usually tires and asks why we have to open presents so early.  We then go and look at the presents we got while my mom wants to take pictures.  After we have opened all the presents we go to my cousin’s house for breakfast.  They show us that they got we start to cook breakfast.  We usually have about 10 pounds of bacon and 100 pancakes.  Christmas is my favorite holiday and love enjoying it with my family.

Optical Illusions in Geometry

So it was a regular day in Geometry class and everyone had finished their test so we decided to chill in the back of the room.  Richard got bored so he brought out his little book of optical illusions.  In a matter of 10 seconds every boy is huddled around Richard freaking out of the illusions in the book.  One illusion told us to stare at the page from 30 seconds and we all stood perfectly still and everyone was laughing at us.  After about 10 minutes of getting our mines blown we class was over.  I will put some of the illusions down below.

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark

This Wednesday me and a couple of my friends gathered at my house to watch Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.  I had seen bits and pieces but have never sat down and watched it in one sitting.  I enjoyed the overall movie but some parts did not make since.  For example Indiana Jones is in an underground camber and somehow there is light even thought the whole camber is underground.  There where also man good fights scenes that were enjoyable to watch.  I enjoyed the overall plot of the movie.  I like the puzzles Indiana Jones faces throughout the movie and how he solves them.  I think the very beginning was the best part of the movie and had the most action.  I recommend this movie and the whole Indiana Jones series for anyone who has not seen them.

Moneyball Review

Over this weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the new movie Moneyball.  Going into the movie I was skeptical because I know almost nothing about baseball and thats what the whole movie is about.  The movie started off very slow and my skepticism began to grow.  The movie began to take a turn when they started to talk about how you should buy runs and not players and got into the numbers.  This started to make me more interested and enjoying it more.  Once the movie started to pick up pace it got better ten fold.  The baseball team finally started to win games and became one of the best teams in the league.  The ending however was depressing but I so not want to spoil what happens.  Overall I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone, even if you are not a baseball fan.

My Bowling Experience

Last Friday for Spirit Week the entire upper school went bowling.  When we all arrived at the bowling alley there was a mob of people waiting to get their bowling shoes.  To add on to the madness the man giving out the shoes announced that the wrong sides of the counter where boys and girls should get their shoes.  Once we all got are shoes me and some of my friends went to a open lane and put are names in the computer.  Our lane consisted of Mac, Christopher, Ray, Rachel, and myself.  We started off we were all terrible.  In the first 5 minutes Ray was already asking for bumpers.  To no avail we denied bumpers because we older than 10.  Anyway as the day progressed so did are skills.  We actually started to get strikes and spares.  We even tried bowling threw each-others legs to add to the difficulty.

Once I was tired of bowling, I got my friend William to go to the arcade with me.  Once we arrived we decided to play air hockey.  After beating William 2-0 he demanded one more game.  Only a couple of seconds into it William scored on me but when I went to get the puck it was gone.  We both searched everywhere for the puck but it was gone.  I enjoyed going bowling and I would definitely do it again.

The Worst Movie Ever *SPOILER ALERT*

I recentely saw the new movie Apollo 18.  Going into the movie I thought it would be about how the Americans and the Russians covered up a secret moon landing, but this was not the case.  In the movie it did show the Americans sending a secret shuttle to the moon to do research.  The beginning of the movie started out okay but there kept being scenes where a old camera was used to show how the reel film from movies looked.  This got very annoying very fast.  Another annoying aspect of the movie was that it would randomly zoom on a rock on the moon and we see it move half a centimeter, never clueing you in on why.  Also the astronauts rover and flag went missing and is never explained how.  At the end of the movie we see that the moon rocks have been taking everything.  Yes I said the moon rocks did it. The moon rocks in the end of the movie turn in to black spiders.  This was very random and unprofessional.  The moon rocks later kill one of the astronauts and I will not spoil what happens to the other one.  Might I mention the movie states the movie is based on a true story.
